ABSTRACT The genus Entoloma includes species with agaricoid, secotioid and gasteroid basidiomes. In recent years, some studies have been conducted with this genus in the northeastern region of Brazil. In this context, the state of Bahia has only Entoloma serrulatum and E. cyathiforme. In order to contribute to the knowledge of this genus in the state, this work presents a new occurrence of Entoloma for the State of Bahia. The specimen was collected during an expedition in the Serra do Conduru State Park, in southern Bahia. After the morphological analyses, the species Entoloma wednae was identified. This is the first record of the species for the State, and the third record in the scientific literature.

RESUMO O gênero Entoloma, abriga espécies com basidiomas agaricoides, secotioides e gasteroides. Nos últimos anos, poucos estudos foram realizados com esse gênero na região nordeste do Brasil. Neste contexto, encontra-se o Estado da Bahia, que conta com apenas o registro de Entoloma serrulatum e E. cyathiforme. Com o objetivo de contribuir para o conhecimento deste gênero no Estado, este trabalho apresenta uma nova ocorrência de Entoloma para o Estado da Bahia. O espécime foi coletado numa expedição realizada no Parque estadual da Serra do Conduru, no sul da Bahia. Após a análise morfológica a espécie Entoloma wednae foi identificada. Esse é o primeiro registro da espécie para o Estado, e o terceiro registro da mesma para a literatura científica.

ABSTRACT Geastrum is a genus of gasteroid fungi characterized by a star-like basidiome and a bellows mechanism for releasing spores. The genus is represented by 41 species in the Brazilian northeast region. In the State of Bahia only seven species are known. The objective of this work is to describe the new occurrences of Geastrum for the State. Geastrum argentinum represents the first record for northeastern Brazil; G. brunneocapilatum, G. entomophilum, G. lloydianum and G. triplex represent the first record for Bahia State funga. Descriptions, photos of the species and checklist for northeastern Brazil are presented.

RESUMO Geastrum é um gênero de fungos gasteroides que se caracteriza pelo basidioma semelhante a estrelas com mecanismo de fole para liberação dos esporos. O gênero está representado por 43 espécies na região nordeste brasileira. No Estado da Bahia apenas oito espécies são conhecidas. O objetivo deste trabalho é descrever as novas ocorrências de Geastrum para Bahia. Geastrum argentinum representa o primeiro registro para o nordeste brasileiro; G. brunneocapilatum, G. entomophilum, G. lloydianum e G. triplex representam primeiro registro para a funga baiana. Descrições, foto das espécies e lista de ocorrências para o Nordeste do Brasil são apresentadas.

The order Phallales harbors gasteroid fungi known as stinkhorns, false-truffles, witches’cages and bridal veils, and is mainly characterized by the fetid smelling basidiome, insect-associated dispersal mechanism, and mucilaginous gleba. The order has been well studied in Brazil, with greater occurrence in the southern and northeastern regions of the country. The state of  Bahia has only records of the species Abrachium floriforme and Lysurus sphaerocephalum. The objective of this study is to present new occurrences of Phallales for the State.  The species were collected in the Bahia State, in the municipalities of Elísio Medrado, Mucugê, Salvador and Uruçuca. One herborized specimen from Lençóis was included in the analyses. Seven species were identified: Abrachium floriforme, Itajahya galericulata, Mutinus caninus, M. elegans, M. verrucosus, Phallus denigricans and P. merulinus. All represent new occurrences for the State of Bahia, except A. floriforme. Descriptions, identification key, notes and photos of the species are provided.

A ordem tem sido bem estudada no Brasil, com maior ocorrência nas regiões Sul e Nordeste do país. O Estado da Bahia apresenta apenas registros das espécies Abrachium floriforme e Lysurus sphaerocephalum. RESUMO A alta diversidade do gênero Geastrum e a dificuldade de obtenção de culturas miceliais prejudicam o estudo ecofisiológico e a exploração do potencial biotecnológico do táxon. Nesse estudo, foram testados diferentes meios de cultivo, visando a obtenção de culturas miceliais para G. lloydianum e G. subiculosum coletadas na Amazônia brasileira. A germinação dos esporos, o isolamento das culturas monocarióticas e o cruzamento sexual in vitro são apresentados, além de uma breve descrição morfológica das culturas obtidas. O meio de cultura Batata Dextrose Ágar (BDA) foi o mais promissor dentre os meios de cultura testados no cultivo das duas espécies. Reportamos o maior crescimento em cultura de ágar já registrado para esse gênero (4,9 mm por semana para G. lloydianum e 7,5 mm por semana para G. subiculosum). Nesse meio de cultivo, os esporos germinaram após 35-40 dias de incubação e o isolamento de culturas monocarióticas das duas espécies, assim com os cruzamentos sexuais in vitro, foram realizados com sucesso.

ABSTRACT The high diversity of the genus Geastrum and the difficulty of obtaining mycelial cultures impairs the study of the ecophysiology and the exploration of the biotechnological potential of the taxon. In this study, different culture media were tested to obtain mycelial cultures for G. lloydianum and G. subiculosum collected in the Brazilian Amazon. Data on spore germination, and isolation of monokaryotic cultures and in vitro sexual reproduction are presented, as well as a brief morphological description of the cultures obtained. For both species, Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA) was the most promising of the tested culture media. The highest growth in agar culture ever recorded for this genus is reported (4.9 mm per week for G. lloydianum and 7.5 mm for G. subiculosum). In the PDA culture medium, spores germinated after 35-40 days of incubation and the isolation of monokaryotic cultures of the two species, as well as in vitro sexual crosses, were successfully performed.
